8th Girivihar Open International Climbing Competition 2011 from rCkclimber on Vimeo.

Best described as a sheer climbing spectacle, Girivihar, the oldest mountaineering club in India, recently concluded the 8th version of its very popular, International Open Bouldering Competition at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
In the month of January (from 23rd to 25th) 2011, the club entered its eighth year of successfully hosting the highly competitive sporting event. With the top national climbers from various parts of India and together with climbing talent from Korea, Israel and France, this year we recorded a huge participation of 116 climbers. Making Girivihar the first ever competition organiser in India, to have recorded such a huge participation ever.
Petzl supported is by sending promotional managers and world renowned climbers from the Petzl Climbing Team, they have been kind enough to recognise the growing Indian Climbing Talent that the competition promises to nurture. This year Petzl guest climber Philippe Ribière graced the event with his presence and participation.
And we take this opportunity to thank our contributors and sponsors for the event. Corporate companies L & T Finance, Hindustan Unilever and Indian Oil were kind enough to extend their sponsorship for the event. Petzl, Kangchenjunga Mountaineering Foundation (KMF) and Avi Industries have been a part of the Girivihar family showering their support to the competition every year. We thank Gravit (climbing adventure company in Leh) our new contributor friend this year.
