This is to draw your attention to a topic of importance to the club and likely interest to its well wishes.

Needless to say, during all that time, both Girivihar and the sport of mountaineering have changed. Founded as a hiking club, Girivihar is today into rock climbing and mountaineering with an arena of activity spanning the lower ranges of peninsular India to the Himalayas in the north. On the other hand, mountaineering which Girivihar took on with vigor in 1966, has since become identified with the larger world of climbing.

Looking ahead, it is the larger and constantly evolving world of climbing that could set the direction for Girivihar from now on. And as the club gets set to observe its 50th anniversary, what better way to honors it than to chart a course for the future.

Girivihar has prepared the blueprint for a comprehensive adventure sport facility in Mumbai. It starts off with artificial climbing walls of international standard (sport climbing is the fastest growing segment in climbing, globally) but is hoped to evolve over time into a full-fledged adventure sport-training institute. Being familiar with trekking and climbing, you will certainly appreciate the need for such a facility here - it not only creates a climbing calendar that is insulated from the seasons but also goes a long way in training local talent to compete with the best in the field.

We did not restrict our imagination in any way while preparing the initial sketch of the project. We want it to be the best in this part of the world, attracting both Indian climbers and those from abroad.

Needless to say, none of this is possible without adequate funds. While the club will contact interested corporate and other institutions, your potential to contribute cannot be overlooked as you represent adventure lovers and have additionally the experience of raising funds for Girivihar's many expeditions.

This project is big when compared to many of other Girivihar’s campaigns. Please find a detailed copy of the project for your perusal with this letter. It can only be successful with your wholehearted involvement. You could also chip in by spreading the word around to all your friends, relatives and colleagues. Also suggestions for raising funds for the land and equipment are welcome.
